Why work with a Child Development Program?
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) from Child Development Program is evidence-based and found to be helpful in identifying and preventing potential mental issues that may affect a child. Research has shown that IECMHC can effectively improve the skills and ability of early care and education providers to address children’s challenging behavior and promote children’s social and emotional development (Smith & Lawrence, 2019). The IECMHC model provides consultation services for people who care for young children and promotes healthy social-emotional development and child development. Our infant and early childhood mental health consultant works collaboratively with our early childhood education staff, programs, families, and other professionals to help them build the capacity to address and prevent children’s challenging behaviors and support children’s social-emotional competencies. IECMHC aims to support all children, teachers, and families involved in our early care and education settings. There are multiple sub-types of IECMHC, including programmatic consultation, classroom consultation, and child/family-centered consultation.
Our program will provide developmental screenings and assessments for the children to periodically monitor their development and learning throughout the year.

Infants (6 weeks to 1 year)
In our Infant class, we provide a warm and nurturing environment that is perfectly tailored to the needs of our youngest learners. While our infants may be too young to grasp complex social and emotional skills, our focus is on creating a gentle introduction to understanding classic feelings.
Our caregivers offer a loving atmosphere where infants feel secure and cared for. This early stage is all about building trust, fostering positive relationships, and ensuring that each baby is happy, healthy, and loved.
Every classroom is thoughtfully designed to provide a comforting and sensory-rich experience, stimulating their senses and curiosity about the world. We prioritize the fundamentals of social and emotional development, including compassion, respect, and building strong attachments.
Our goal is to create a foundation of emotional security and a sense of belonging. While they may not yet identify complicated emotions, they begin to sense comfort, security, and love in their surroundings. We believe in laying the groundwork for a lifetime of positive social and emotional development.
